TAP Messenger Updates
August 2014 Update
August 12, 2014 @ 9:44 AM EDT
So - the entire app works very seamlessly - we just need to implement a few more todo list items and we should be all set.
I imagine we will be able to start sending e-mails out to our many thousands of signups soon, granted I have a feeling the initial release
will be iOS only, as Android has not quite caught up to having full Web Socket support.
That being said, it shouldn't be too difficult to get our Android version out after the iOS one is out in the wild - we just need to adjust a few
features so the cross-compatibility is spot on.
Keep checking back in with us. :)
July 2014 Update
July 22, 2014 @ 6:37 AM EDT
Fixed a lot of bugs! We have a few more very obvious bugs we need to get rid of before launching. Lastly we need to optimize our code to make sure it's speedy quick on
all modern devices. Shouldn't be too much longer!
June 2014 Update
June 04, 2014 @ 4:34 AM EDT
We have been busy crushing bugs and cleaning up the app so it feels even smoother than before. All of this is being tested in our iOS app but we're going to start
making sure everything is working properly in our Android app as well. If we can, we'd love to release on both platforms the same day - even though we've been talking
about rushing the iOS version first. We'll see how things go as time goes on. At this point we are doing everything in our power to make sure this app gets out into the open.
Thanks for reading, we'll get an update out again as soon as possible.
Just Another Status Update
April 22, 2014 @ 4:55 AM EDT
We fixed a bug that iOS7 kept throwing at us, regarding the Image Picker - it was forcing the status bar to be black text on a black background after a successful selecting
of a user image to be uploaded. That being said we fixed it and it's working fine now. It might not sound like a big deal, but imagine not having access to the current time,
battery level or how much service you are getting.
We are doing a bit more touch up work on the user experience end of the app. We still have at least 2 major hurdles to jump over before launch.
Saving Sent Images - Done
April 03, 2014 @ 8:14 PM EDT
We have just successfully integrated "Saving Sent Images" into TAP Messenger's iOS app. This means we are down to 3 primary tasks on our ToDo List. After the account recovery system,
the peer review system, and the storage system is finalized - we should be ready to apply polish and launch.
Thanks to the supporters who are patiently waiting for progress. :)
ToDo List
March 29, 2014 @ 12:20 PM EDT
We managed to clean up the iOS code entirely. We have not seen a single iOS crash in weeks, and we've been testing non-stop. That being said we are now able
to focus on finishing up the rest of our ToDo List.
1.) Account Recovery System (forgot password, send to email, etc)
2.) Saving Sent Images (when a user sends another user an image file)
3.) Peer Review System (users can report each other for illicit content)
4.) Finalize Storage System (primarily image storage)
After we knock out those 4 major bullet points we'll be able to do a final clean up and be ready for launch. Sorry it's taking so long, but we don't want to release
something that clearly is not up to par with what we want to deliver. We'll continue to post updates as time goes on.
Production Quality iOS Code
February 12, 2014 @ 5:09 PM EDT
Our iOS code is being cleaned up (for a faster app), proper memory management is being applied (so the app won't crash), and we are
making sure that our app runs on iOS6 and iOS7 (over 95% of all devices are on these 2 versions).
Just a small update about what's going on over here. :)
We will be releasing on iOS first, Android second...
February 06, 2014 @ 7:20 PM EDT
Good news from the front lines, TAP Messenger is scheduling its release on iPhone / iPod Touch! I want to point out that
this does not mean that Android is second best, forgotten or will not be getting the app - we simply had a quicker path to
get our iOS version completed, and instead of holding back that version we'd rather get it out to the world as soon as possible
as we continue to develop the Android variant.
We will keep you updated about the release schedule on this page, so check back often to see what's happening.
TAP - Backend Development
February 06, 2014 @ 6:50 PM EDT
We are starting to optimize our server backend. This means that we are ensuring we have scalability, reliability, speed and redundancy.
Our server code that runs TAP Messenger is quite lean, but we cannot scale indefinitely vertically - at some point we will need to scale horizontally,
and when that time comes we will be ready.
As soon as we finalize the backend optimization we can launch TAP Messenger.
